Reformatting Your Computer Using Windows XP
Reformatting your Windows XP computer will erase everything on your hard drive and reinstall the operating system. To avoid losing your data (documents, pictures, music, etc.), you will want to backup your information prior to reformatting. After you have reformatted your computer, you will need to reinstall all of your personal data, as well as any software products you may use (for example, Microsoft Office, iTunes, Symantec AntiVirus, etc.).
Reformatting your Windows XP computer has three main parts:
Reformatting the computer from your operating system CD.
Reinstalling the drivers that came with your computer.
Running Windows Update to reinstall all security updates and patches.
NOTE: If you have a network connection, please unplug from the network before starting installation.
1. First, make sure that your computer is set to Boot to CD. This is a different procedure depending on your computer. When your computer first boots look for an option to enter the BIOS settings. Under the BIOS settings find the "Boot Order" and make sure the CD-ROM is set to boot first.
2. With the Windows XP CD in the CD-ROM drive, save your BIOS settings and exit.
3. If you've done everything correctly you should be asked to "Press Any Key to Boot from CD".
TAKE NOTE: this will apear on your screen " PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD._"

format ulang kompi dg mggunakan Windows XP.
memformat ulng ini akan mghapus semua yg ad pd harddrive an instal ulang sistem operasinya. utk mnghidari hilangnya data2mu, backuplah lbh dulu data2 tsb kmd formatlah. stlh kompi diformat, kamu perlu mnginstal semua data2 spt sofware2 yg kamu butuhkan.
Memformat Windows XP mpy 3 tahap : memformat kompi dr CD sistem operasi. instal ulang drivernya yg aa i komputermu. jlnkan Windows Update utk mnginstal semua sistem keamanan.
CATATAN : jika kamu mpy koneksi ke internet, cabut lebih ulu koneksinya sblm instal ulang.
1. pertama, ykinkan bhw kompi tlh dipasang utk CD. bila kompi tlh ditmbahkan BIOS Setting, di bwh BIOS Setting cari "Boot Order" dan ykinkan bhw CD-ROOm tlh dipasang.
2. dg CD Windows XP dlm CD-Room driver, simpan BIOS Setting dan tutup.
3. jk tlh melakukanya dg benar, akan ditnya " Press any key to boot from CD"
CATATAN : ini akan muncul pd layar " PESS ANY LKEY TO BOOT FROM CD._"
4. After installing the necessary setup files, Windows XP will display your partitions. Delete any existing partitions by selecting the desired partition with the arrow keys, press D to delete and then L to confirm the deletion.

7. After the partition is formatted, Windows XP will begin installation. The computer will reboot. While the computer is rebooting, please do not touch any keys. From now on the screens will look like the following:

8. Enter your product key. If you purchased Windows XP from the IMU Bookstore, the product key will be located on the back of the sleeve your CD came in. If you are reformatting using a Windows XP CD that came with your computer, the product key may be located on a sticker somewhere on your computer case.

9. When asked for Network Settings, choose "Typical Settings".

10. Windows XP will now complete installation. Upon completion you will need to re-install the drivers for your hardware (Modem, Sound, Video, etc). Many PC companies such as Dell, Gateway, and HP will include a "Driver Installation CD" with the computer. Simply insert the CD and follow the instructions. Otherwise, you can download current drivers from many manufacturer's support web sites.
11. Next turn on the Internet Connection Firewall. Instructions to turn on the Internet Connection Firewall.heres the instruction:
Windows XP has a built-in firewall. This can help raise the level of security for your computer when it is connected to the Internet.
a.)Select Start | Control Panel. Once you are inside the Control Panel, click on Network and Internet Connections.
b.)Click on Network Connections.
c.)Once you are in the Network Connections window, right-click on the connection that you want to protect (typically the Local Area Connection) and left-click on Properties, as shown below:
d.)Click on the Advanced tab, and click on the box to place a checkmark next to: Protect my computer and network...
e.)If you would like to set some advanced settings - such as opening a port for a server - click on the Settings button. Place a check in the box(es) next to the port(s) you wish to open. To add a new port, click the Add... button.
f.)When you are finished, click the OK button to return to the Control Panel.
12. Reconnect your computer to the Network.
13. Run Windows Update by opening Internet Explorer, then clicking on Tools -> Windows Update. Follow the on-screen instructions for installing critical updates.
14. Restart your computer.
NOTE: ADJUST YOUR RESOLUTION IF NEED
1.) go to CONTROL PANEL
2.) click DISPLAY click SETTING there you gonna adjust your desired resolution.....

11. kmd hidupkan sambungan internet. dg cara :
Windows XP dipasang firewall. ini akan meningkatkan keamanan kompi bila terkoneksi ke internet.
a). pilih Start->control Panel->klik pd "network and internet connection"
b). klik pd Iternet Connection.
c). saat di halaman Network Connection, klik kanan pd koneksi yg ingin dilindungi (Typical the Local Area Connection) an klik kanan pd Properties.
d). klik pd Advenced tab, dan klik pd kotak untuk meletakan tanda yg tlh di check, kmd ke "Protect My Computer and Network"...
e). jk ingin mengeset bbrp peraturan tambahan, spt "Opening Operator For a Server" klik pd tombol setting. letakan yg sdh di check pd kotak2, slnjutnya ke ports yg ingin kamu buka.
utk menambahkan ports baru klik Add..
f). jika sdh selesai, klik "Ok" utk kmbali ke Control Panel.
12. Sambungkan kompi ke internet.
13. jlnkan Windows Update dg membuka Internet Explorer, kmd kik pd Tools->Windows Update-> ikuti petunjuknya utk mginstal critical updates.
14. restart kompi
CATATAN : ATUR RESOLUSI JIKA DI BUTUHKAN DG CARA:
1. ke Control Panel
2. klik Display->Setting dsana kamu dpt mengatur resolusi yg di butuhkan.
